Staff activity

This staff activity allows teachers to share good practice on strategies that work for students on the mentor scheme in the following areas:

  • Assessments: Look at the assessments # is going to take. What strategies do you / could you put in place to support him / her against these types of assessment?
  • Language: # is phase #. What strategies do you / could you put in place so he / she can access the language requirements of the course?
  • What do / can you do to support him / her with organising their work?
  • What do / can you do to support him / her with preparing for assessments?
  • What do / can you do to support him / her with prioritising their work?
  • What do / can you do to support him / her with not concentrating?
  • What do / can you do to support him / her with lack of effective revision skills and techniques?
  • What do / can you do to support him / her with having insufficient subject notes?
  • What do / can you do to support him / her with completing class / homework?
  • What type of feedback does # respond to best (oral / written / peer / teacher / group / one to one)?
  • What strategies do you put into place if # doesn`t respond to feedback?

The activity can be run with one question per A3 sheet of paper, and the staff, in pairs go around to each sheet adding their ideas and responding to the ideas of others.
